Wise Choices

“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” Ephesians 5:15-16 We are exposed to sin every second of our lives. In saying “no” to sin, we are making the wise choice of following God’s ways. The Bible, past experiences, and future dreams will all guide you to make the right decision. The Bible The Bible was written hundreds of years ago, but is still applicable to our lives. We can learn from the examples of Eve, Moses, Noah, Esther, Jesus (etc.) Noah shows us that wise choices (building an ark in a desert) may be considered ridiculous in the eyes of the world. Esther shows us that making wise choices have amazing outcomes, but require a lot of faith. Past Experiences Knowing what has happened in the past will reveal to you what is wise or unwise. Hanging out with friends is 100% ok, but if your friends have consistently led you astray in the past, you may have to reconsider who you are going to spend time with. Future Dreams We all have goals for the future. Your decisions of today will impact your tomorrow. Consider how your decision will affect your future. Will the decision cause you to live in regret? Will it make your future boss look down on you? Will it impact your chances of getting into your dream school or job? The present has a lot of influence on the future. Choosing the wise choice is tough. Friends will think of you as a rule follower and may betray you. You will miss out on what may appear to be “fun” activities. Others will view you poorly when you decline an invitation to their party. But it is all worth it in the end.
