The dot represents our present life while the line represents eternity. Which would you live for?

Hopefully your answer is eternity. The average human life is around 80 years long while eternity is infinite years long. Eternal perspective is looking at things in view of eternity. This means that earthly things like popularity, friends, achievements, and reputation really do not matter because they are not eternal. They may affect your present 80 year life now, but not your eternal future in heaven. Since God is the only thing that is eternal, only his opinion about us matters. “By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to endure ill-treatment with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he was looking to the reward.” Hebrews 11:24-26 Moses decided give up his luxurious life as a prince and live as an Israelite because he thought about eternity. He knew that God’s rewards for him in heaven are far better than the temporary riches that he would experience as an Egyptian Prince. This is an example that we are called to follow. We need to look past the 80 years here on earth to understand what is worth pursuing. Earthly things will pass away, but our relationships with God will not. Therefore, I encourage you to seek God and grow your relationship with him, because that is all that matters in the end. This can be tough. The rest of the world lives in the moment and strives to be successful by worldly standards that do not mean anything in the end. People will probably think you are nuts if you do not become insanely stressed about a bad grade or really upset about losing. Having an eternal perspective will make you standout, and this will give you an opportunity to witness to to others. If others look down on you, remember that in light of eternity, their opinions do not matter. Only God’s matters. *Disclaimer: I am NOT saying that you don’t need to give 100% effort in school, sports, competitions, etc. God is glorified when you do your best. “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17
